Daily Practice

At this point, your daily practice consists of the following:
(Click here for the whole practice so far with transliterated Hebrew)

When you wake up:

~Chant Modeh Ani while in bed- page 2 of Artscroll (Click here for recording).

~Wash hands with vessel (instructions in the Artscroll on same page if you forget)

Ideally, you would do the following in the morning, but if you don't manage to do this in the morning, you can still do it any time during the day.

~Have head covering on

~Hold Tallit Katan and chant blessing- middle of page 2 (Click here for recording), put on tallit katan.

~Close eyes, relax and focus awareness on breathing for a few moments.

~Chant hand washing blessing
(outside bathroom) with head covering- middle of page 16  (Click here for recording)

~Chant Torah blessing- top of page 18, first sentence only. (Click here for recording)

~Chant the Sh'ma- (Middle of page 30)- Click here for recording to check your pronunciation, reading and traditional melody.

Inhale before each of the six words, and extend out each word on long tones and imagining the light being projected in six directions. Then read the next verse- "Barukh shem...", imagining the light returning into your heart.

~Chant the first line of the Ve'ahavtah- page 30, right after Sh'ma and Barukh Shem. Click here for a recording of the Sh'ma and the  Ve'ahavtah. At this point, you are only chanting the first line, through "me'odekha".

~Amidah- follow the form on the Daily Practice 6 sheet.

~Journalling- Take a few moments to notice what kind of effect this practice has on you. Does it influence your feelings? Your thoughts? Has it influenced your actions and decisions? Also,
write down any thoughts or feelings that come to you about what we are learning, talking about, or anything else that comes to you regarding any of this material. Don't censor yourself- there is no right or wrong.

All blessings to you!
